Dr. Álvaro Rodríguez-Ratón, born in Bilbao in 1984, studied at the Gaztelueta School (Getxo) and graduated in Medicine at the University of Navarra. He participated in different laboratory research initiatives at CIMA and in clinical settings at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.
Specialist in ophthalmology via MIR (Hospital de Galdácano, Basque Health Service) and completes his training in internationally renowned centres (Fernández-Vega, Oviedo, Spain; NIIOS, Rotterdam, Holland; Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, USA). His area of specialization is refractive surgery, a technique that includes the operation of myopia, tired eyes and cataract.
After 7 years of work in Public Health; currently focuses his activity in IORR (Instituto Oftalmológico Rodríguez-Ratón), based in Bilbao and Getxo.
He is a member of the Spanish, European and international societies of refractive surgery (SECOIR, ESCRS, ISCRS), member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
