Since 1941, the CENTER OF OFTALMOLOGÍA BARRAQUER is a private entity dedicated to the investigation, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control of eye diseases, offering an integral ophthalmological assistance to patients from all over the world. Our medical team consists of 30 highly qualified ophthalmologists, divided into areas of different specializations, offering and guaranteeing our patients an individualized treatment according to the needs of each case.
Every year, more than 100,000 consultations are carried out, generating 9,000 surgical procedures and 5,000 laser treatments. These figures, without a doubt, place BARRAQUER among the largest ophthalmological clinics in the world.
Internationally, Barraquer stands out as a reference center in cornea transplants, as well as being the first center in Spain to implement the revolutionary new artificial vision chip: the Argus II.
Our center also houses the first Eye Bank of Europe, founded in 1962 by Professor Barraquer.
