Both the Maternity Hospital and the Children’s Hospital were inaugurated in July 1965, just one year after the opening of the General Hospital. Since then they have become a national and international reference point in the medical care of children and women.
The Children’s Hospital offers reference healthcare to paediatric patients from all over Spain. La Paz is the only center in the Community of Madrid that performs all types of pediatric transplants. It is also a national reference center (CSUR) for multiple complex pathologies.
At the Maternity Hospital, a 16-sided polygonal tower with 18 floors, more than 700,000 children have been born throughout Spain.
This center is an example of professionalism and vanguard in both healthcare and teaching and research, and is also a pioneer in the humanization of healthcare.
